Sölden Glacier – Long Season Ski Holidays On Ice

Sölden Glacier is only 100 km from Innsbruck, Austria, so skiing weekends or mini-holidays are well worth the flight investment. Sölden Glacier is one of Austria’s highlights because it showcases real glacial skiing at its finest. In addition to glacier skiing in Sölden Glacier, the high point of any visit is the varied mix of ski runs, serving all levels who come to enjoy oneself: There are 57 km of 10 blue runs; there are 61 km of 15 red runs; and, there are 31 km of 8 black runs. One of the longest slopes gallivants for 1880 meters over 15 km, one of Austria’s finest. Drag and chair lift with gondolas take skiers and boarders to wherever they desire between 1350 meters and 3340 meters. The appropriate ski pass will link up Sölden Glacier with Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, opening up 260+ km of skiing terrain. Several slopes open late into the evening for night skiing. The Sölden Glacier snowboarding includes some real treats. There is a half-pipe, fun park, wave rides, jumps, slides, corners and boxen. It should be of no surprise that with such altitude comes a long and snowy ski and snowboard season. The opening date usually begins at the end of September and ends mid May nearly 7-8 months later. A ski vacation here can be had at almost anytime during the winter months.

The skiing and snowboarding in Sölden Glacier are second rate to none. So, this means that many of the hotels and other lodging book up quickly, especially around the snowy Christmas and New Year’s holiday season. Several four and five star hotels offer everything patrons need for an adventurous but unwinding skiing getaway. Chalets, apartments and other hotels are found lining the alpine surroundings.
