Bad Hofgastein is situated in the stunning Gastein valley and is one of the largest resorts in Austria. Originally a spa town, this spot is famous for its natural healing waters, and people used to come from miles to sample their healing powers. Nowadays, Bad Hofgastein Ski Holidays are the norm as people come here mainly to ski down the 175 kms of pisted ski runs.
The resort has a good selection of runs leaning more towards the intermediate skier (with over 42 red runs). Novices or beginners have 18 gentle slopes to choose from whilst expert skiers have 12 black runs. The highest point here is at 2295 which means that snow cover is pretty much guaranteed. Just in case the worst happens and snow isn't forthcoming, they are able to produce snow with snow cannons on 96 kms of their pistes. It has 13 modern ski lifts taking you to and from all parts of the resort which can transport up to 25,000 skiers every single hour The opening times are from 5th December and the season lasts until 25th April (this is subject to snow conditions)
About the Village
The apres ski life in Bad Hofgastein is very good. The resort itself has a pedestrianised centre where you can find a large selection of bars, restaurants and shops. The bars range from lively paces such as "Rock" through to a more sophisticated choice such as the "Giradi Piano Bar" situated in the Grand Hotel. Bad Hofgastein also has a number of night clubs to choose from. In addition there are a number of shops ranging from craft and souvenir right through to high fashion and boutique, so the choice is endless. Accommodation in Bad Hofgastein is plentiful, ranging from apartments, chalets and bed and breakfast, although you'll also be spoilt for choice with the multitude of Bad Hogastein hotels.

There are a number of annual events that are staged here such as the FIS Snowboarding World Cup and the “Jam Session” which is the snowboard and ski “slopestyle” contest. Regular Snow Magic shows are given throughout the season. If you are not into skiing, then there are other activities here such as snowshoe walking, iced waterfall climbing, sleigh rides and much more besides.
