Flying couldn't be simpler when thinking about coming to Saalbach. Easyjet, Ryanair and Flybe all fly from various locations in the UK to its nearest airport, Salzberg which is just 86km from the resort. Other airports which are close by are those at Innsbrook 173km and Munich 228km and Klagentfurt 242km.

By train
The nearest station is Zell am See. For timetables and further information why not check out the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) information service.

A regular bus service running at hourly or 2 hourly intervals takes you from Zell am See to Saalbach. Taxis are also available in Zell am See.

Like many Austrian resorts, Saalbach-Hinterglemm has a pretty, traditional-style village and very lively nightlife, but unlike many it combines this with a very extensive circuit of slopes on both sides of a valley, and runs are linked by an efficient modern lift system. Its slopes resemble a French resort more than a traditional Austrian one - with the added advantage of excellent traditional mountain restaurants dotted around.

Driving 200k without getting into a car. 55 possibilities to ascend quickly. That’s Austria’s largest connected skiing area, snow freaks and ski lovers everywhere - only without the waiting queues. Unlimited slope fun without any cars since lifts carry up the skiers and snowboarders directly from the village centres. 200km of heavenly groomed slopes - from gentle rookie pistes to advanced world championship slopes, from fun parks to mogul pistes. Free buses bring back tired skiers to their starting points.

Whether beginner or professional - every winter athlete will find the right activity in Saalbach-Hinterglemm in an area at an elevation of 1050m to 2300m above sea level. Offering you 200 kilometres of runs, 62 modern cable cars, chairs lifts and T-bars as well as 350 snowmaking facilities on all major slopes (from top to bottom) guarantee the pleasure of winter sports from the end of November / beginning of December to April.

Saalbach-Hinterglemm also offers the ultimate leisure time thrill for snowboarders at the three fun parks at the ski resort Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang. The Nitro Snowpark in Leogang, the Nightpark in Hinterglemm and the Learn-to-ride-Park in Saalbach ensure diverse snowboarding adventures with numerous obstacles. You can also find cutting edge facilities at the ski resort Saalbach Hinterglemm. Three new ski lifts opened their gates at Saalbach Hinterglemm in 2009. A brand new six seat chairlift at the "Turmlift", a heated 8 seat chairlift at the "Almlift" and a new four seat chairlift at the Hasenauerköpfl mountain are waiting for you.

Eating out & Night-life
Saalbach Hinterglemm has dozens of restaurants, many with excellent Austrian specialities involving dumplings, noodles and so on (and, increasingly, elk and wild boar). The culinary star is the Hotel Theresia with its modern take on cuisine in an eclectic setting, although many others are splendid. Peter's Restaurant, Oberdorf 177, on Saalbach's main street is famed for its steak cooked on hot stones. Other than that, there are plenty of ski resort staples.

Classic Austrian apres ski is on offer with beer, schnapps and dancing in ski boots. As the lifts shut try Hinterhagalm on the slopes above Saalbach, or Bauer's Skialm, Oberdorf 232, and the outdoor bar at the Hotel zur Dorfschmiede, Dorfstrasse 129, both at the bottom of the slopes. The Goasstall, Reiterkogelweg 491, above Hinterglemm is also fun.

By night there's plenty of choice until late - in Saalbach there's the Kuhstall bar with live music, Dorfstrasse 212, and King's Disco, Sporthotel Berger, Dorfstrasse 33, or in Hinterglemm there's the Glemmerkeller, Glemmtalerlaudstrasse 150, Road King, Dorfstrasse 129, and Tanzhimmel, Hotel Knappenhof.
