By plane
Travelling to Austria by air couldn't be easier. With an average direct flying time of only 2 hours from most major UK airports to a choice of popular Austrian destinations, flights to Austria are probably the quickest, easiest and most cost effective travel option.

By train
Zell am See has a regular national and international train service and a 10 min bus service to Kaprun. The quickest and simplest public transport route to Zell am See and Kaprun is to fly into Salzburg's International Airport, obtain a shuttle transfer to the Salzburg train station and catch a train to the resort.
Salzburg's main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) is located at Sudtirolerplatz, on the banks of the river Salzach, 20 mins walk from old city. The station is an important European railway hub, connecting Salzburg with many major cities in Europe. There are direct services to Zell am See.
By car
If you're driving from Salzburg, follow the route:
Leave Salzburg and after 4.5 km take the 3rd exit at the roundabout and head on A1 /E55 / E60 towards Innsbruck, Munchen and Villach (5km).
Taking Exit 297, at Siezenheim head on B1 for 3.5km. Thus you will enter Germany and after 23km on B21 / E60, follows Austria.
Take B178 for 9.5km and drive 37km on B311. Right on Zeller Straße, head on Loferer Bundesstraße for 1.6km and you've arrived at Zell am See!

Zell am See has perfect pistes and a glacier, guaranteeing snow. Whether you're a pro or a beginner on skis: the blue, red and black pistes of the region always offers you the right terrain for your standard of performance - on one of its 138km of runs covered in the finest of snow.
There are plenty of ski hire shops in which to obtain your ski equipment and regular ski buses take you directly to the lifts and cabel cars in a flash.
The region also has to offer something fitting for more relaxing leisure activities. High up on the Alpine pastures, you can enjoy the nocturnal view of the sea of lights down in the valley. Lake Zell also provides the town with a natural reservoir of 175 million cubic metres of the purest of drinking water. Naturally, the 4.3 square kilometres of its water surface are also wonderfully suited for fun and relaxation on ice or in the water.
Right at the gates of the town, you will find Schmittenhöhe rising up to a height of 2,000 metres. Wonderful walking paths with lots of good views are just a stone's throw away from the heart of the town. But it is also quite worthwhile spending a little time in the town centre of Zell am See: the shopping streets invite you to stroll around, and there is a weekly market in 'Stadtplatz' square.
Zell am See is also linked to an extensive network of cycling paths that reaches as far as the neighbouring communities. But why should you go to distant shores when everything you need is right here at your fingertips? With its Parish Church, St. Hippolyt, and the town's museum at the Kastnerturm tower Zell also constitutes a cultural destination, while sports fans come here to watch ice hockey games of the local heroes of the national league club or the players of the town's football club.

Snowboarding in Zell Am See - Kaprun gives way to half pipe, fun park, jumps, slides, and boxes. It is considered one of the best places for snowboarders with fun park up on the glacier.
