Nestled in the heart of the Southern Alps dwarfed by the magnificent Mont Blanc lies the chocolate box resort of Megeve. Megeve is paved with gorgeous cobbled streets in which are hidden many exclusive boutiques. Its pedestrianised centre means that you can amble from shop to shop without having to worry about noisy traffic. However, it's not just about the village, Megeve ski holidays provide an excellent opportunity for you to hone your skills on one of the largest ski areas in France.
At over 300 kms of skiable downhill pistes Megeve is a real family resort. With 28 runs for novices and 25 for intermediates, there are still 11 expert runs, not to mention 19 gentle nursery slopes for beginners. On top of this there are 40 kms of cross country ski trails and 79 ski lifts are capable of transporting up to 52,000 skiers/snowboarders every single hour. The highest lift takes you up to an elevation of 2350 metres and the resort itself sits at 1100 metres and has 278 snow cannons standing by just in case. The large ski area is made up of 3 separate areas these are Cote 2000, Jaillet an Mont d'Arbois and Rocherbrune all with stunning views of Mont Blanc. Most of the trails are carved through the heavily forested slopes.

About the village
The apres ski scene here is aimed at the more discerning guest with piano bars and exclusive restaurants being the norm. Having said this there are still cheaper options. The Wake Up and the Bar St Paul both offer really good value for money and Harry's Bar offers an endless choice of beers. Megeve has four nightclubs which are open right through the night if you feel like letting your hair down. The resort also has 34 restaurants mainly offering very high quality local cuisine.
If you are looking for quality in your accommodation Megeve has its fair selection. With over 44,000 beds you won't find a shortage of a good hotel. Megeve is fairly exclusive, and is generally marketed as so. However, if you look around you can find some good deals.
Shopping here is like the resort, fairly exclusive and has a selection of top quality stores as well as chic boutiques, however it is still a real pleasure to wonder around the quaint cobbled streets and window shop if you can't quite stretch to some of the prices.
