Garmisch-Partenkirchen
Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Germany’s Most Linked & Popular Ski Vacation SpotsGarmisch-Partenkirchen lies in the Bavaria section of Germany and may very well be Germany’s most popular ski holiday destination, just a short trip from either Munich or Innsbruck Airports. That aside, Garmisch-Partenkirchen is very popular with skiers and boarders alike, both for the year-end ski jump competition, World Cup Races and tons of terrain for boarders to free-style, ride half pipes and do tricks. Garmisch-Partenkirchen has 43 pistes in all, with a fair breakdown of all levels: greens take 3 total runs, blues 10 runs, reds 25 runs and experts 4 runs. There are 38 separate ski lifts (from lots of drags to cables to chairs and gondolas and one funicular) picking up 50000 skiers per hour. One run loses 2130 meters while the highest lift tops out at 2830 meters. The lowest run lies right at 700 meters with the resort slightly north at 720 meters. The “Happy Ski Card” ski pass gives holders access to 280 km of total trails and routes that are captivating and interlinked to Mittenwald in Germany, Seefeld in Austria and Tyrol. Snowboarding in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is something of a dream as well. The areas of Zugspitze Plateau, Ehrwalder Alm, Mittenwald and Garmisch just to name a few offer a funbox, half-pipe, free style and schools to help wannabes learn. There are literally a hundred restaurants, half that in bars, pubs and discos to hang out for one or every night in Garmisch-Partenkirchen to boot.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen Accommodation: Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a great place to book a hotel, apartment or chalet with so many other linked ski resorts nearby. Out the door, up the lift and over to the other side gives way to a plethora of runs that just can’t be beat. Boarders can find hostels and hotels catering to the louder crowds while skiers and families with little ones can find solace in hotels with childcare. Several wood sided and red-roofed chalets offer some good weekly rates for those who come with two or more.
