The Kanin ski area is the highest ski slope in Slovenia with the ski season lasting all the way until May. Due to the altitude, the pistes seldome freeze, allowing quality skiing on exclusively natural powder snow during most of the winter. By means of a newly constructed cableway and connecting ski slope, the region will become home to the first truly international ski centre. The new common ski centre will have the highest ski area around, with slopes starting at 2300m above sea level and finishing all the way down in the valley at 1140m.
Snow sports enthusiasts will enjoy 30km of natural snow, which will be supplemented by compact snow on the Italian side. A beginner slope, World Cup slope and many options in between, the Kanin-Sella Nevea Ski Centre will allow for relaxed and enjoyable skiing for all abilities and, in cooperation with the innovative ski manufacturer, the ELAN Ski Test Centre offers top-class gear for genuine enjoyment on the slopes.

The most genuine skiing experiences are only done in the company of trained guides. Kranjska Gora is one of the most reputed names on the tourist map of Europe. World Cup alpine skiing events and record flights on the Planica ski jump are the first things that come to mind when mentioning this resort. Yet Kranjska Gora has a great deal more to offer than just skiing records. It is above all an enviroment-friendly community.
During this time, normally lasting up to four months, you will be kept busy from the wide choice of winter sports that Kranjska Gora offers. Skiing, sledding, ski mountaineering and even ice climbing are but a few of the activities you can participate in.
Kranjska Gora is by no way merely a romantic winter destination, although it is true that the snow falling from above transforms the area into a white wonderland. The white soul of Kranjska Gora has been and will remain alpine skiing.

Terme Zrece

Zrece evolved in the embrace of the forested mighty peaks and mountain passes of Pohorje, on the spot where the river Dravinja enters Zgornja Dravinjska dolina (upper Dravinja valley) calms down and connects this world with the Dravinja vineyard hills. In the final international event Entente Florale 2003 Zrece won silver for the most beautifully ordered village. Once a village of blacksmiths, charcoal diggers and woodcutters, today it is a town with modern industry and fast developing tourism, whose character comes from Terme Zrece and Rogla, the climatological health resort, and Olympic ski centre. Nature walks, cycling, rich cultural heritage, peace, relaxation, tasty and healthy food assure every traveler’s pleasure. The remains of the old blacksmith trade - Oslakova kovacija (Oslak forge), Pavlakova jama (Pavlak cave), St. Lamberta church, Skomarska hisa (Skomarje house), walks on Brinjeva gora, The Zrece tourist information office will gladly give you additional information. Once upon a time Matjaz Kocbek wrote: "The thermal springs restore and invigorate the traveller, while visits to the cultural monuments and events listed above enrich people's inner worlds".

Winter
Bohinj is certainly impressive when it comes to looking at its winter menu. Apart from the normal Alpine Skiing, ice climbing, winter hiking and ice-skating, it also offers up some slightly more interesting options such as winter mountain biking, skijoring, sleigh rides, snow rafting, winter photo hunting and animal watching/hunting.
The Vogel cable car is operational throughout the year, except during the regular annual refit.
