The surroundings of Borec are criss-crossed with trails, paths and roads which are great for mountain bikers. Lying at an altitude of 430m, the biking season starts from the end of March and lasts until the middle of November. Tours at Mt. Mangrt and Stol, as well as the Kanin Mountain Park Ride, offer biking at an altitude of over 1000m. In all, there are 15 different trails which you can follow varying from unchallenging to very demanding which makes Bovec suitable for all types of riders.

Kanin and its top cable car station are an excellent starting point for mountaineering and hiking trips. The cable car drops off visitors at an altitude of 2202m at the Prestreljenik Bar with no knee pains and no climbing gear. Visitors to Kanin can climb well marked trails to the top of the Kanin mountain range or walk over Prevala towards Rombon, a climb which is sure to satisfy the hardiest of walkers.
Only an hour's walk away takes you to the hut of Peter Skalar on the commanding natural feature of Prestreljenik's window. Those less skilling in in high mountain hiking can benefit from the study route of Dr. Jurij Kunaver. A simpler walk presents Kanin and its typical high karst geology features in an easy reachable format. Rock formations, breaks and other surface forms tell of a geological history ranging back 220 million years.
With over 30 different natural sites of beauty, there really is something for everyone; springs, caves, gorges, waterfalls, rivers, botanical garden and a National Park. Those of you who are out for an adrenalin thrill will find Kanin an excellent place for paragliding. Secret caves and vertical shafts are particulary appealing to avid cavers prepareed to take a plunge deep down to the heart of the Karst highlands.

A number of wellness centres are dotted all over the area which include saunas, baths, pools, massages and workshops which will leave you feeling relaxed and renewed.

The Kanin ski area is the highest ski slope in Slovenia with the ski season lasting all the way until May. Due to the altitude, the pistes seldom freeze allowing quality skiing on exclusively natural powder snow during most of the winter. By means of a cableway and connecting ski slope, the region will become home to the first truly international ski centre. The common ski centre will have the highest ski area around, with slopes starting at 2300m above sea level and finishing all the way down in the valley at 1140m.

Snow sports enthusiasts will enjoy 30km of natural snow, which will be supplemented by compact snow on the Italian side. A beginner slope, World Cup slope and many options in between will allow for relaxed and enjoyable skiing for all abilities.

For all those free and adventurous spirits who are not satisfied by the turns on the slopes, you can also take part in tour skiing trips over the untouched snow blanket of the vast Kaninski podi mountain range. The most genuine skiing experiences are only done in the company of trained guides.
