Davos ski resort in Switzerland is often referred synonymously with Klosters, or Davos Klosters ski resort. The main reason is the enclosed skiing within the surrounding mountains. As part of this, Davos and Klosters are linked with Jakobshorn and Parsenn, Madrisa, Rinerhorn and Pischa—five main skiing areas circumnavigating the town of Davos. When added together, the 300 km of Swiss skiing holds the record as Switzerland’s loftiest and largest ski resort. In fact, the Parsenn funicular goes as high as 2750 meters to Weissfluhjoch; the lowest skiing takes place at 1124 meters and the highest at 2844 meters—skiing here is suited to all levels. Beginners have more than 20 slopes to practice on; intermediates have the double of the aforementioned to really improve on, and, advanced skiers have 22 runs to truly hone their skills. There are 26 separate lifts taking skiers and boarders to the north, south and west facing slopes. The longest ski run last just over 12 km, a drop of over 1700 meters! Snowboarders are not left sitting in the resort either. They have access to three separate board parks, with half pipes and fun parks. Cross-country skiers have over 75 km of trails to choose from, with over half of that dedicated to skate cross-country. Skiing and snowboarding lasts from late November to early May, with several festivals and holiday celebrations seemingly taking place every week.
Davos Accommodation:
The accommodation within Davos has something for every holidaymaker, e.i., if families or older folks want quiet nights, there are three- and four-star hotels catering to that crowd. If younger souls need a bar with music attached to the lodge, there is that too. From nestled chalets to mega hotels and everything between, Davos has the best deals for those staying for a week or more. (Photos copyright: TB Davos Klosters)
