Verbier ski holidays gives visitors a taste of a pretty and charming Swiss resort which has a sunny south west location way overlooking the Rhone Valley. It forms part of the Four Valleys Ski Area which offers 412 km of downhill slopes, 205 individual pistes and 92 ski lifts. The vast area is reached by a funicular and there is also a link to Les Diableret's glacier. A pass can be obtained which will allow a skier access to all of the other resorts within the Four Valleys ski area.
The resort is mainly geared towards intermediate and expert skiers with a choice of terrain both above and below the tree line. The skiing areas are concentrated on several different mountain areas, including Villars and Isenau, which are linked by chair lifts and gondolas. The quickest way to get onto the slopes is by the village gondola up to the Roc which is a central station for lifts across the area. Alternatively, if you prefer a more scenic route, there is the old mountain railway from the village centre up to Bretaye where numerous chairs and lifts branch out in all directions. This is a good route to access Villars which is an ideal place for beginners to start with its gentle nursery slopes just behind the railway station. Experts may also like to venture on to some of the numerous off-piste trails accompanied by a guide. In addition there are 44 km of cross country trails to explore. Snowboarders are also well catered for at the resort with a choice of fun parks as well as boarder friendly terrain and lifts.

About the village

A lot of the accommodation in Verbier is close to the centre and the lifts and comes at a reasonable price if booked early. There is a wide choice if you are looking for a hotel in Verbier with prices to suit most pockets. Bars and restaurants are plentiful offering traditional cuisine as well as international fare. The nightlife is good and there are several English style pubs and French Cafes. The shopping is excellent although expensive, consisting of designer boutiques and sports shops.

Travellers to Verbier can fly into a choice of either Basle, Berne, Geneva or Zurich airports using low cost cariers such as Easyjet and Flybe, and none of them are more than 3 hours away from the resort. Rail transfer is quick and efficient.

Although this resort retains its Alpine charm it has all the luxuries and facilities associated with a major resort. Verbier is very child friendly which makes it an ideal spot for families as well as couples or singles. It is also a good all year round destination with plenty to do at any time of the year. With some of the best scenery around, great cuisine and excellent nightlife, Verbier has it all.
