Zermatt with its access to 394 km of downhill skiing and 59 individual pistes, serviced by 40 ski lifts, ranks amongst some of Switzerland's largest ski resorts. Its high altitude location amongst stunning scenery of the Matterhorn makes it possible to skii and board back to the resort. Should there be a lack of snow, Zermatt is able to make its own copycat snow using its 350 snow canons.

Zermatt hosts many sporting events throughout the year such as the curling championships and ski mountaineering race. In addition there are a wealth of other activities for vistors to do both winter and summer including tobogganing, sled rides, ice skating, hiking, swimming and golfing.
