Cavalese is the chief town of Val di Fiemme with its 3,600 inhabitants. It stretches across a fluvial and glacial terrace whichslopes slightly where the valley reaches its maximum width.Cavalese is where district-services (like the hospital for example) and the offices of the valley are located. In winter it can offer itsvisitors numerous ski-lifts, especially in the skiing area of AlpeCermis, as well as cross-country skiing at the bottom of the valleyand in Lavaze Pass. Summer visitors are offered a wide range ofexcursions and of walks. There are also other sports activities andorganized cultural and social events. The old and artistic Bishop's Palace, which is the official seat to the Magnificent General Community of Fiemme, is worth visiting.
