About the resort

Nesting in a hollow of the mountain, Morzine's millennial village breathes authenticity. The singularity of the village and the summits around it give it the typical charm of Savoyard resorts. As a result of its long history Morzine has a traditional atmosphere and keeps the memory of ancient customs that can be discovered on hikes, official meetings or relaxed get-togethers. Morzine belongs to the largest ski domain in Europe.

For ski enthusiasts the Portes du Soleil offer an unlimited skiing area between France and Switzerland, between lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, at the foot of the Dents Blanches and the Dents du Midi. Ski slopes of all difficulty levels, panoramic views to take your breath away, whether you choose the peaks of Mossettes or Chamossiere, the forest paths of Lindarets or Morgins. Somewhere among the 650 kilometres of marked ski runs of the biggest skiing area in the world you will find your corner of paradise. You can choose to ski 3-D in all 3 sectors: the Morzine/Avoriaz sector, in Morzine/Les Gets, or in Portes du Soleil!

The Morzine - Avoriaz sector:
Easily accessible from the village centre by the Super Morzine gondola lift (equipped with new cabins), it encompasses 70 km of ski runs ranging from 1000 up to 2466 metres in altitude. This is true paradise for all who enjoy the modern forms of snow sports as there are 2 snow-parks, of which the new "Biotop" is the first 100% ecological winter forest park. There is a half-pipe, a "canyon" slope and a new boarder slope. There are also 4 runs of “snowcross”, where you can practise your off-piste pursuits in complete safety. This sector is the home of the Lindarets village, a hamlet of high mountain farms, many of which operate as friendly restaurants and offer their traditional delicacies to the hungry travellers. This area is also the gateway to Switzerland.

A new concept in snowparks imported from the Californian resort of North Star, it was developed by Jake Burton himself, famous for his visions on the future of the snowboard. Situated in the middle of a large expanse of un-groomed snow it is ideal for trying out wide turns in powder snow. These slopes wind in and out of the trees in the Lindarets forest and are punctuated with hidden wooden obstacles all around the circuits that skiers stumble across when hurtling down a ‘secret passage’. You have to ski or snowboard down the same slope many times to discover all the concealed modules. Some 3000 skiers an hour can now take the lift following its four to six-man upgrade. New Morzine - Les Gets sector: Raverettes doubles up A new four-man chair has taken the place of two button lifts on the Nyon plateau. The facility, which can take 1800 skiers per hour, brings all the blues of the Nyon mountain within easy reach, along with the rest of the Chamossiere.
